• Dimond Engineering's CANstructure, “The Evil Within” featuring SpiderMan and Venom. Anyone wanting to support the Food Bank of Alaska is welcome to bring cans to the competition as votes for the “People’s Choice Award” or make monetary donations to the Food Bank with “Dimond High Engineering CANstruction” in the memo line.

  • Dear Dimond Families:

On Friday, March 22, 17 of our students worked hard to build a structure that represented 3+ weeks of classroom work.  They designed a structure to fit the Superheroes and Villains theme, planned and ordered cans, fundraised to meet a $2370 budget, and built the structure in 8.5 hours.  They were the only student team competing amongst 13 other professional architecture/engineering firms.  CANstructure is an annual event that helps to raise a substantial can food donation to the Food Bank of Alaska.

Unfortunately, on Sunday evening Dimond’s display was vandalized. The Anchorage Police Department was notified and they are investigating this incident.  Although disappointing, it is a lesson of high expectation for good behavior at school and in the community.  I am grateful that our Dimond families reported the incident immediately. Dimond has taken appropriate school-level discipline due to this significant behavior in our community and the disruption caused in the school.

We are proud of the work of the CANstruction team.  The value of the educational experience cannot be taken away.  Pictures of the construction and structure can be viewed on the school’s website.

    Sincerely,

    Tina Johnson-Harris
