• Away All Day
Cell Phone / Personal Electronic Device Policy

Our mission at Eagle River High School is to build a focused, respectful and connected school community that supports the long-term growth of every student. In light of this, in addition to recent school board policy and state legislation on use of cell phones in school, ERHS is adopting an away all day policy. I want to frontload expectations for this coming school year. When students come back from summer break, cell phones will not be allowed to be used on campus during school hours. This includes all passing periods and lunchtime.

If families need to reach their student during the school day, they may do so by contacting our front office. If students need to contact home during the school day, they may request to use the front office phone. If you have not already completed online registration, now is a good time to login to ParentConnect to verify all contact numbers are up to date. Starting in August, we are asking that students either leave cell phones at home, in their locker, or in their car. Additionally, ERHS staff will be modeling these expectations. I am asking that families have conversations with their student(s) about this new policy.
As far as disciplinary consequences for non-compliant students, following is the matrix that ERHS administration will follow:
    • 1st offense:  Discipline referral, contact guardian, and the student may pick up their device from security at the end of the day.
    • 2nd offense: Discipline referral, contact guardian, and the guardian must pick up the device.
    • 3rd offense: Discipline referral, contact guardian, guardian must pick up the device, and progressive discipline determined by administration.
By keeping phones away during the school day, we promote academic success, encourage meaningful social interactions, and foster habits that prepare students for lifelong learning, strong relationships, and personal excellence.
