Professional Learning Communities (PLC) at Creekside Park Elementary
At Creekside Park Elementary, our mission is clear: to build a community of academic excellence by providing a respectful, safe, and supportive environment for all students, families, and staff members.
To fulfill this mission, we are dedicated to:
- Maintaining high expectations in academics and social-emotional learning through perseverance and a growth mindset
- Embracing relationships by intentionally honoring our diverse cultural backgrounds while cultivating our commonalities
- Creating an environment where collaboration between students, families, and staff is the norm
In alignment with these values, Creekside Park has implemented a weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) model to ensure our staff is equipped to meet the needs of all learners.
What is PLC at Creekside Park?
Every Monday morning, school begins at 9:00 AM for all grades to allow our staff dedicated time to engage in PLC. This time is set aside for teachers and support staff to collaborate, reflect, and grow professionally—all with the ultimate goal of improving student learning outcomes.
Our PLCs are teacher-driven and intentionally focused on:
- Analyzing student data to inform instruction
- Collaborating across grade levels and subject areas to strengthen vertical alignment
- Integrating best practices in content literacy, differentiation, and technology
- Reflecting on student progress and identifying targeted interventions
- Supporting one another through mentoring and professional growth
This structured and consistent PLC time is a cornerstone of how we work toward achieving our school-wide goals, including:
Creekside Goal #1:
Across grades 3rd to 5th, students’ growth from fall to spring MAP reading assessments will have a median score at or above the 50th percentile.
Through our PLCs, we remain committed to maintaining high expectations, fostering a culture of collaboration, and supporting every student’s journey through intentional, reflective teaching practices.
Why PLC Matters
We believe that:
- Learning is the highest priority for our school
- All students can succeed
- Students thrive when they are actively engaged and supported by diverse instructional approaches
- Ongoing collaboration among educators directly supports academic and social-emotional growth
By investing in weekly PLC time, we empower our teachers to better serve our students and uphold the Creekside mission. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected, and more effective learning community.
