Parent Message: 12/3

Dear Dimond Families-

Update of Earthquake Recovery:

Currently Dimond’s Status is “Yellow.”  This indicates our school has damage, in need of repairs and cleaning is in progress by authorized personnel. Non-authorized individuals will not be able to enter the building until the “Green” status is given.  Within hours or within days Dimond's status can change.  Operations and maintenance workers are working around the clock assessing, repairing and cleaning the building.  Unfortunately, many students are in need of retrieving essential personal items such as medications, car keys, computers and cell phones.  I understand the urgency of retrieving personal belongings, but we cannot jeopardize the safety of staff or students.

Once we are deemed “Green” status it will be safe to enter.  I will communicate the date and time of a controlled retrieval for staff and students. The time allocated for this process will be two hours monitored in a systematic and safe manner. I ask that if the item you want to retrieve is not essential to wait until school has reopened.

Volunteers for Clean-up:

Thank you to all who have expressed helping with cleanup.  After staff have been cleared to enter the building and have had a chance to complete necessary inventory, volunteers will be welcome to help with cleanup.

I am confident by working together as a community, Dimond will be educational ready to reopen school.  Your assistance and patience are appreciated now and moving forward.

Have a good evening!

Ms. Johnson-Harris, Principal
