Parent News 5/22
Happy Summer! In spite of a challenging year, second semester ended well. Your support and understanding throughout the year is greatly appreciated. I hope for your family a restful and relaxing summer.
Locker Information: ALL remaining students Locker Cleanout Day was Monday 5/20 and again No backpacks will be allowed, only plastic grocery bags, any other bags will be collected and stored until the end of their school day.
To All parents: It’s that time of year again when we are collecting outstanding Fines and Fees. If your Senior or student has not returned old books, now is the time to do so! Textbooks should be returned to the Fines and Fees office NOT the teacher so we can ensure fines are removed before books return to the classroom. We will continue to collect class fees and old fines until the last day of student attendance. If your student has already turned in books to teachers, encourage students to make contact with the Fines and Fees office, and we can verify that records are corrected.
Help Dimond Library Collect Outstanding Books! Help Dimond Library Collect Outstanding Books! All Students’ library books are now overdue. 275 students still have 398 items at a replacement cost of $6,543. We appreciate all the help families can give to locate and return books. We always allow students to keep books they are still using as long as possible; they just need to talk to Ms. Metcalfe. We NEVER charge fines for overdue items and offer several options to take care of lost books:
Return the book = NO fine; Replace with a used or new copy = NO fine; Work in the library = NO fine (See Ms. Metcalfe for details.); Pay for the lost book(s) = $ Cost to Replace Book(s)

Secondary Summer Education: Secondary summer school provides high school students currently enrolled in grades 9th through 12th an opportunity to retake a course that they failed during the regular school year. These classes will be offered in an online format with onsite teacher support and guidance. We are offering summer school classes at three high school locations this summer. Families can choose whichever location is most convenient for them. Transportation to and from summer school is the responsibility of the parent/student. Students can continue to ride the People Mover for free by showing their high school student ID. Food service is available at East High School and Bartlett High School.
Summer session will last four weeks and regular attendance is required. Students should talk to their current counselor about registering for summer school classes. Students who do not complete the registration process before the end of the regular school year can register at any of the three summer school locations on Tuesday, May 28th from 8am to 1pm. Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis.
Best Regards,
Principal Johnson-Harris
