Parent News 7/21

Greetings Dimond Families:

Welcome freshmen families!  Many of you may be wondering about 9th grade orientation. Luckily, we were able to have incoming 9th graders visit Dimond before the school closure.  Typically, we have a follow-up freshmen orientation the Friday of the first week of school.  Unfortunately, due to the rising virus cases and risk factor of having a large gathering we will not have the orientation and welcome back assembly.  We will work to use other ways to provide information to freshmen that will assist them with transitioning to high school and in general welcoming the student body back to school.

Please take the time to review the information below and plan accordingly.

Thank you.

REGISTRATION

Returning students must register online through ParentConnection for the 2020-2021 school year. Online Registration will be open through August 21, although registering your student before August 14 is appreciated. Please use this link or visit ASDK12.org Q/Zangle ParentConnection

Unfortunately, due to social distancing expectations the district will not likely have face-to face registration this year.  We ask that you register your student online to save time.  If you have moved and will be attending a different school, please register online and notify the new school. You will need to provide proof of residency to your new school.  Families interested in applying for Free and Reduced Lunch will be able to do so in August.

There will be three options for learning this school year:  ASD in School: Traditional/Blended School, ASD at Home: Virtual Program, ASD Homeschool.  If you are interested in the Virtual Program, please access the link asdk12.org/Page/15639 to sign up.  Additionally, if you are interested in ASD Homeschool, please contact Paidea, Frontier Charter, or Family Partnership.  All returning students must register online regardless of the option the family selects.

Many of you may be contemplating what is best for your student for the start of school.  Please know that we will help you with navigating through whichever option your family decides.  Currently, the district and high schools are working on finalizing some key elements for instruction face-to-face and online courses.  Please look for an update in upcoming email newsletters.

We will be offering access to the school on an appointment only basis for registration of new to the district and to the school or other school-related reasons.  Counselors will be available for scheduling early August.  Watch for more information to come.
