Parent News 9/15
Dear Dimond Families-
We are halfway through the 1st quarter. Please continue to encourage your student to attend Zoom sessions and turn in assignments. As you assist your student with staying on track, please take the time to check your student’s progress on Q. We realize that students are experiencing online learning in different ways. With instruction being remote, we want to make sure that we are supporting students and families the best that we can. Multiple safety nets are important to the success of students. Please let us know if you need assistance with helping your student during this challenging time.
NEWS FROM THE SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST:
Some ideas from the University of Michigan for helping your students that are struggling during these times with motivation towards school: 1) Set or have them set small daily goals. 2) Reward or have them reward themselves for completing small goals. 3) Help them create positive habits and routines (ex. setting phone to do not disturb during classes and time reserved for completing schoolwork, scheduling time each day to complete schoolwork, etc.). 4) Encourage them to take a short break if they are getting frustrated or overwhelmed. 5) Have them think about why they care about school and their actions. 6) Help them remember previous successes they have had persevering even though they were struggling with motivation.
