Parent News 1/19

DHS News Blast 1/19/2021

Dear Dimond Families:

Transportation is currently running ALL routes, for students participating in small group re-entry. Students/parents can go onto the link under transportation on the ASDK12.org website and type in their address to find their stop. Schedules have been adjusted to the 8:00 a.m. start time. We will begin on Thursday due to the Wednesday asynchronous schedule. Welcome back to the building!

REMINDERS:

Wellness---In an effort to continue to support our students' well being we are informing students of some different resources and have included them on our Dimond counseling website. They are also attached above for your reference. As needed we hope students are allowing you to help them get enough sleep each night, eat healthy, have movement/exercise as a consistent part of their routine, still find ways and time to do things they enjoy, and continue to connect with people they care about in healthy and safe ways.

Safety---With the onset of online learning across the District, ASD has an obligation to ensure that students are not accessing or exposed to inappropriate content or engaging in any destructive online behavior when using the District network or computers.

To keep students safe from potentially harmful online activity, ASD monitors all activity through all Google applications for any content related to:

  • Drugs & Alcohol
  • Harassment
  • Nudity & Sexual Content
  • Profanity & Vulgar Language
  • Suicide & Self Harm
  • Violence Towards Others

This monitoring process screens documents generated by, shared by, or shared to students via Google Drive, which includes documents that may be submitted via Google Classroom. These documents include but are not limited to Google Suite and Microsoft Office documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, as well as a variety of image file formats. When questionable content is identified, it is flagged and a report is forwarded to school administrators, who will in turn notify parents or guardians. Again, the focus here is maintaining a safe and healthy online learning environment for all our students.

Parent-Teacher Conferences in February:

There will be NO conferences for high schools in February.  The week of February 8-12 will be a regular online school week for all high schools.

Family School Climate/Connectedness Survey:

The window is open now until March 26th for the family version of the SCCS.  This year has been a particularly unusual year; however, we appreciate your feedback.  The student survey will be available for students in February.  Please take a few minutes to complete the survey.
