DHS Tuesday News Blast 9/21/21

 

Dear Dimond Families:

 

Thank you for partnering with us for the success of your student.  We appreciate the conversations that you are having with your student about taking pride in their school and working toward doing the best that they can in their classes.  Please do not hesitate to contact your student’s counselor or teachers if your student is needing support academically or experiencing challenges emotionally.  We want to provide any support we can to ensure students have a positive and successful high school experience.

 

The quarter will end on October 15th.  Please mark your calendar for Parent Teacher conferences on Wednesday, October 20th.  The times are below:

Wednesday, October 20, 2021:

 

--Student Dismissal 11:00 am

--Conferences 11:45-2:30 pm

--Teacher Break 2:30 pm

--Conferences 4:00-7:00pm

--Teacher Dismissal 7:00pm High School Schedule

 

Thursday, October 21, 2021:

 

--Regular School Day

 

Friday, October 22, 2021:

 

--In-service Day for Students

 

We appreciate your efforts and helping to keep Dimond safe by keeping the school symptom free.  Please continue to encourage your student to maintain proper mask-wearing, wash their hands and social distance when possible.  If you have questions, please contact the administration or the nurse.  Thank you for providing your student’s negative test result to Nurse Julie Cheverton. 

 

The Anchorage College & Career Fair at the Alaska Airlines Center:

Meet with over 70 colleges, universities, employers, and educational organizations!

 

Sunday - Oct. 10th, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm (w/ workshops from 1:30-3:30pm)

Monday - Oct.11th, from 9:30am to 12:30pm

 

If your student is unable to make it Sunday, Dimond is offering Juniors and Seniors to go Monday Oct. 11th, from 10:30 to 11:30am by bus. College & Career Fair field trip permission forms can be picked up from and turned in to Mr. Tutaan at Office B2 in Lower B Hall or to Mr. Hallis at Office B200-B. The limit will be 50 students.

MATH TUTORING AVAILABLE:

 

Tuesday, September 14th, we began our after school math tutoring program.   Students can come to B108 after school between 2:15-3:15 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to receive math help. We encourage them to bring notes if they have them.  

 

PICTURE DAY: 

 

If anyone would like retakes or makeup pictures, please have them come to the camera during lunch on September 30th. 

Pictures are up and ready to view and purchase!

UPCOMING SPORTS START DATES AND SIGNUPS:

 

Please make sure to complete all forms on Planeths.com before the start date of the sport you are interested in.  If you have any questions, please contact Chelsea Hunt in the Activities office at 742-7005.  Office hours are & 7 AM to 3 PM with a closure at 12 PM for 30 mins.  

 

Payments

 

Each sport costs $200.00, there is now a student cap of $400.00 per year.  Once you have reached this amount all other sports will be free for the current school year.  If your family is interested in a waiver, you will need to apply and be approved for the free and reduced lunch program. You can find this on Student Nutrition website. 

 

Activity Stickers

 

Activity Stickers are available for purchase on ParentConnect.  The cost is $50.00 for the school year.  This will get your student in to any home or away game during the school year.  Your student will receive a label on their Student ID they will need to present at the games.  

 

Bowling Meeting

 

Dimond Bowling will have an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 22nd during lunch beginning at 11:30 in the small gym. Get signed up in planeths. Payments are made to the coach. Practice starts Tuesday, September 28 at Jewel Lake Bowl at 2:30pm.
