MASK WEARING REMINDER:
We appreciate your efforts in helping to keep Dimond safe. Please continue to encourage your student to maintain proper mask-wearing, wash their hands, and social distance when possible. Correct mask-wearing always means over the nose and mouth unless eating or drinking. This is particularly important indoors and in crowded settings when physical distancing cannot be maintained. Students who fail to comply with wearing their mask proper will receive a detention. It is important that we continue to enforce the district’s universal mask-wearing policy. The district’s universal policy and proper mask-wearing can be found at https://sites.google.com/asdk12.net/masks/all-about-masks.

STUDENTS CHANGING THEIR FUTURE WITH AN HOUR OF CODE:
We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works.
But only a fraction of us are learning how technology works. Only 51% of all high schools teach computer science.
That’s why our entire school is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (December 6-12). More than 100 million students worldwide have already tried an Hour of Code. Our Hour of Code is making a statement that AJ Dimond High School is ready to teach these foundational 21st-century skills. To continue bringing programming activities to your students, we want to make our Hour of Code event huge. I encourage you to volunteer, reach out to local media, share the news on social media channels and consider hosting additional Hour of Code events in the community.
This is a chance to change the future of education in Anchorage.
See https://hourofcode.com/us/en/learn for details, and help spread the word.
