Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
All Anchorage School District Bring your own Device (BYOD) and Cell Phone/Electronic Communication Devices Conditions of Use policies and guidelines are in effect at West High School.
Phones and electronic devices may only be used in class when appropriate for school purposes as directed by the classroom teacher. Texting, listening to music, use of earbuds or headphones in class are not examples of appropriate use.
Students who violate the conditions of use are required to turn cell phones and other portable electronic devices over to school personnel when requested. The District assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property of students including cell phones and other electronic devices. This includes confiscated devices by staff.
Please note that any student that records or films any type of altercation or posts on social media will be considered an Accessory to an Act. This may result in disciplinary action up to and including out-of-school suspension.
Following the first confiscation of a cell phone, student may pick up their phone in Student Services at the end of the day. On the second and all further confiscations, parents/guardians will need to come to Student Services to pick up their phone.
