Eagle River – One of the most important programs that Rotarians have brought to Gruening Middle School is “Choices.” This nation-wide program is all about helping our youth stay in school and successfully finish high school with a plan after graduation. Students and staff consistently report positive feedback after the Choices presentation and activities. In the tight-knit community of Eagle River/Chugiak, Rotary volunteers not only work with Gruening Middle School, but support all Eagle River middle and high schools by sponsoring quarterly student recognition luncheons and other activities at each school.
The United States Army Alaska and the Anchorage School District established a partnership program with many ASD schools to focus on mentorship, leadership, and increased parental involvement. Many Gruening students have family members in the military, and this partnership has been a successful integration of military and school life for many of our students.
This locally-owned restaurant consistently supports our staff with discounted meals during the school year at critical times such as in-service days or during dinner break at Student-Led Conferences.
