I may have played on this one a little too long. ;) Really fun for connecting pitch with length.

Other activities to engage your child in to provide structure and learning opportunities each day include:
Watch a musical. There are a lot of G-rated musicals. Look for the Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, to name a few.
Home Music Inventory. Search your home for instruments (kazoo, harmonica, recorder), music books, CDs and/or DVDs of musical performances, then play with what you have.
Radio Dance. Turn on the radio and dance. You could also conduct the steady beat. See if you can get 20 minutes of movement in your day today.
Build an Instrument. Look for an empty toilet paper roll, some paper, scotch tape, scissors, and 2 spoonfuls of dried rice or eans. Cut a paper circle slightly bigger than the end of your tube, tape it on, spook in your beans/rice, then close off the other end. You have a shaker/maraca! For extra durability, cover it with duct tape.
Concert Time. Practice a couple of songs you remember from music class (or even some you just really like!) and perform them for someone at home.
Sharing Time. Talk to somebody you live with and find out what their favorite song was when they were your age. What is their favorite song now? Can they play or sing it for you?
