Here are some articles you may print and have family members read to their student(s). The reader can ask their student questions, have them draw a picture, etc.

    UNPLUGGED & PAPERLESS

Have your child find a favorite book. Have your student show you where to find the title, author, and tell what illustrations are. Read the book to your student. If they know any of the words, read those with them.

The student can draw a picture of the weather outside and write words that describe what they see, doing their best to write the words.

Using play-dough, students form letters they know. Have them share which sound they make.

Play I-Spy with items in your home. Give clues that describe the item and see if someone can guess it. Take turns so that both you and the student give clues.

Collect 4-5 objects in the home. With these objects as inspiration, have your child make up a story about them.

    Skill: Comparing Numbers

Ask your child to do two sets of a physical activity, like 2 jumping jacks and 4 sit-ups. Ask them which movement they did more or less. Other example: Touch your nose, touch your ears, close your fists or eyes.

    Skill: Sorting

Provide various rocks or objects. Tell your child they are going to be a scientist and will sort their items. Ask your child to sort based on different attributes: size, texture, color

    Skill: Language of addition

Provide items to count. Have your child put aside 2. Then ask them to put 3 more in the pile. Ask them how many in all? Continue with other scenarios.  Use words like: join, sum, add, more to discuss the language of addition.
