Chris Yelverton - Instructor
Mr. Yelverton has PPG & DuPont refinish certification. He is a King Career Center graduate and has 10 years industry experience. He’s been teaching at KCC/King Tech since 1989. He was awarded CTE Instructor of the Year in 2007-08.
Grade level 11-12. May be taken 4 times with a grade of “C” or better to advance. AM and PM sessions offered
Why take this course?
- Work in a real collision repair shop using up-to-date technology and equipment to repair real cars and trucks
- Develop marketable skills for a career in the exciting collision repair and refinish field
Using I-Car curriculum, students in this class will learn metal straightening, plastic filler application, body panel replacement, sectioning, minor frame repair, auto body alignment and glass replacement. Shop refinish practices include surface preparation, mixing and applying paint, complete vehicle refinishing and blending. I-Car certificates can be earned.Second through fourth semester students will be expected to complete course work and projects at an advanced level and to demonstrate competencies in skill areas not covered in the previous semesters. Qualified advanced students may be eligible job site internships.
Students must purchase safety glasses.
