• Welcome Class of 2025!

We are planning a Freshmen and New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 12th from 11 am to 2 pm. Our Peer Mentors and a select group of staff will welcome freshmen and new students to South High School at  11 am in the auditeria. This event will allow students to find their classrooms, open their lockers, and work with our existing upperclassmen and staff to get familiar with the school before the first day of school on Tuesday, August 17th.

    Dr. Luke Almon, Principal

Welcome to South Anchorage High School!

At South, we pride ourselves on a positive, team-oriented environment, and seek to provide students with the opportunity to work hard, develop resilience, and fulfill their potential. Part of that process is giving students a chance to follow both an academic and extra-curricular pathway throughout their high school years. That may consist of the arts, music, debate, engineering, ROTC, clubs, volunteer programs, and athletics. No matter the course, we encourage all students to find something about which they are passionate, and a group of students and supportive adults with whom they can pursue it.

    Jocelyn Hemenway, Acting Curriculum Principal

Greetings from the Curriculum Office!  The South Anchorage Counseling Team is excited that you are an incoming Wolverine! Our office provides the following: Student Registration, Academic and Career Counseling, Class Schedules, State Testing and AP Testing. We are always happy to help our students meet their academic goals and prepare them for their post high school choices.

    Chris Ruggles, Activities Principal

We have been working hard to help students participate in the wide array of activities South offers. Out of the eight high schools in our district, South has the highest overall activities participation rate!

Students who are involved in extracurricular activities are more likely to succeed in the classroom. Our Athletic and Fine Art Programs have a proven history of success they continually build on. Along with our additional clubs and organizations, students have many different avenues to build camaraderie and strong friendships with their peers. By participating in activities, students will learn dedication, hard work, responsibility, and leadership. These traits will help our students prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.

Rick Stone, Student and Staff Services Principal

If you need assistance with your locker, parking permits or bus information please come see us.   Our main goals are to make sure you are safe, on time and a productive member of our school environment.  My team and I are also responsible for all behavioral expectations and consequences.   Go Wolverines!
