CERTIFICATE TRACKS

  •  

    • Certificate Tracks offer different types of certificates based on the length of study.
       

      • Single course Certificate:   A single course provides information required to meet the certificated requirements and may require an assessment test via a third party at the end of the class.

    •  

      • Occupational Endorsement: A combination of courses (less than 30 credits) provides the information required to meet the certificated requirements and may require an assessment test via a third party at the end of the class. 

     

      • Undergraduate Certificate: A combination of courses (over 30 credits) provides the information required to meet the certificated requirements and may require an assessment test via a third party at the end of the class.
  • Certified Nursing Aide

    Single course

    • Prepares the student to be an Alaska State Certified Nurse Aide. It includes CPR training, medical terminology, basic anatomy, first aid, and skills labs. Students receive on-site clinical training at local health care facilities.

     

    • Prerequisites: WRTG A090 (470 or writing sample) and MATH A055 (ALEKS score 17 or higher)

     

    Prepares for the State of Alaska Certification Examination

     

  • Medical Office Coding

    Occupational Endorsement 

    • 3 or more semesters and 15 classes (17 credits)

     

    • Medical office coders work in medical offices and outpatient settings, coding medical records for statistical and reimbursement purposes.

     

    • Prerequisites: WRTG A111 (530 or writing sample) and MATH A055 (ALEKS score 17 or higher)

     

    Upon successful completion of the program, students are prepared to sit for the AAPC’s Certified Professional Coder (CPC) examination. Students who successfully pass the AAPC's Certified Professional Coder (CPC) examination will be granted initial apprenticeship status.
