PE & Health

  • The goals of the Physical Education program are to:

          1. Promote the important role of regular physical activity in the maintenance of a healthy lifestyle.
          2. Develop an understanding of one's physical self.
          3. Provide opportunities to work on skills to perform a variety of physical activities.
          4. Develop socially appropriate behavior in physical activities.

It is our belief that physical education is a vital ingredient in our school program. It is our aim to provide an enjoyable environment in which to pursue these goals.

    Extra Curricular Activities

    Interscholastic Student Activities

The Anchorage School District offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities. It regularly prepares student surveys as part of a continuing effort to accommodate the interests and abilities of all students in a nondiscriminatory manner. Addition of interscholastic activities not currently available will be considered as a result of expression of interest by students in numbers sufficient to justify formation of a team or club.

    Middle School Activities

Middle school students may participate in interscholastic and intramural athletics and a variety of academic and recreational activities. Students who would like to participate in interscholastic and intramural sports must:

Be enrolled as a full-time student in the Anchorage School District (4 or more classes)
Have an Activity Participation form signed by a parent/guardian for each sport
Have a current sports physical on file with the school; this exam is good for one year from date of issue

    Fees

In addition, students who participate in interscholastic sports must pay an $100.00 participation fee per sport, be eligible for a sports fee waiver, or meet the $390 family cap for middle school and high school sports fees. A $5 concussion baseline fee is required (no waivers)

In order to practice or play in a game, a student must be in attendance at school a minimum of one-half day, except for extenuating circumstances (such as a school field trip) approved by an administrator.
