Edie Knapp

ASD’s Construction Supervisor with Capital Planning & Construction, Edie Knapp has served the District for 25 years planning, designing, and working to make our school buildings the best possible learning environments.

As the department’s lead in earthquake recovery and the FEMA process, Edie performed in a truly outstanding manner during the response, recovery, and public assistance phases. She has and continues to dedicate substantial time and effort (days, nights, and weekends) to ensure that the Anchorage School District can place students and staff into safe facilities even though many schools were damaged as a result of the earthquake.

Edie’s supervisor said, “Despite all the responsibilities placed upon her, Edie always maintains an extremely positive, cooperative, and professional attitude. She is a team player totally dedicated to the well-being of students, staff, and the District. Ms. Edie Knapp is a true professional who stands out amongst her peers and is an outstanding representative for the Anchorage School District.”

Beyond her dedication to the staff, students, and families of ASD, Edie has been a volunteer for the Special Olympics for nearly 20 years. She has been a crucial member of Special Olympics Alaska Games and Tournament Organizing Committees and has served as the Games Management Software (GMS) Commissioner.

The Vice President of Special Olympics Alaska said, “The volunteer time and efforts that Edie has put in on a local, state, national, and world level have made a tremendous impact on athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities not only in Alaska, but around the world.”
