    Come work with us! ASD offers the following hiring and employment incentives:

     

    Student Nutrition

    • A $1000 bonus (prorated by FTE) will be paid in the final paycheck of the school year to all actively employed bargaining unit members who complete the 2023/2024 school year.

      Employees hired after December 1, 2023, will be eligible for a maximum bonus amount of $500 (prorated by FTE) if they work through the end of the 2023/2024 school year.

      These sums are paid as bonuses and are not eligible for PERS credit.

     

    TOTEM Positions

    • A $2000 bonus (prorated by FTE) will be paid to employees actively employed in TOTEM bargaining unit positions. One half of the bonus will be paid with the last pay period in December 2023 if the employee remains employed through the end of the first semester, with the other half paid with the final regular pay period in May 2024 if the employee remains employed to the end of the 23/24 school year. 
      Employees whose FTE increases will become eligible for a larger bonus if they have worked more than half of that semester's workdays in a position that is eligible for a larger bonus. Employees must be in paid status for at least half of that semester's workdays to receive that semester's bonus. These sums are paid as bonuses and are not eligible for PERS credit. 

     

    Special Education Paraprofessionals

    • Special Education paraprofessional educators with 48 credits of college or more education are eligible for a minimum extra 2% on top of their base hourly wage.
    • Special Education paraprofessional educators for special programs receive an extra $2.00 differential, and for behavior support receive an extra $4.00 differential, on each hour worked, not to exceed 8 hours per day. 

     

    Special Education Educator Incentives

    Special Education positions associated with AEA also have incentive options:

    • Signing bonus of $5000 for at least two years of service

                                                         or

    • Relocation assistance of up to $10,000 for up to four years of service

                                                         or 

    • Special Education Alternative Certificate program, where ASD provides tuition reimbursement for general education teachers working to obtain their special education endorsement

     

    Related Services Educators

    AEA associated staff in these Related Services positions earn an extra 6% on annual salary:

    • Adapted Physical Education
    • Audiologist
    • Occupational Therapist
    • Physical Therapist
    • School Psychologist
    • Speech Language Pathologist
    • Teacher of the Blind or Visually Impaired

     

    Special Education Educators in Self-Contained Classrooms

    AEA associated staff in these Special Education positions earn an extra 6% on annual salary:

    • Affective Skills
    • Deaf Education
    • Extended Resource
    • Hard of Hearing
    • Life Skills
    • Preschool
    • School Based Behavior Supports (SBBS)
    • Structured Learning
    • Whaley School

     

    Other Special Education Educators

    AEA associated staff in these Special Education positions earn an extra 3% on annual salary:

    • Resource Elementary School
    • Resource Middle School
    • Resource High School 
    • Resource Transitions 
    • Special Education Teacher Expert
    • ACT Program

     

    Speech Language Pathology Assistants and Educational Interpreters

    • Speech language pathology assistants and educational interpreters have incentive options:
      • A signing bonus of $2500 for at least two years of service

                                                                       OR

      • Relocation assistance of up to $10,000 for up to four years of service

Referral Bonuses

  • Current regular ASD employees can receive a bonus when referring an applicant who is hired as a bus driver or bus attendant; a special education paraprofessional educator; or a Student Nutrition manager, assistant manager, lead, or assistant. For each new employee hired into a regular position, the referring employee will receive a $500 bonus payment if the new employee successfully completes their probationary period. If the new employee remains employed through the end of the school year, the referring employee will receive an additional $500 payment. To receive the referral bonus, the applicant must list the referring employee's name on their application.
