  • Helping Us Give School Supplies

    Begich Middle School

     

    Help Us Give School Supplies (HUGSS) is a back-to-school event that provides essential school supplies and backpacks to ASD students, helping them start the school year confident, prepared, and ready to learn. 

  • This year, our goal is to distribute 5,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to ASD students. 

    Cost Breakdown: 

    • Backpacks: At least $35,000 (not including shipping)

    • School Supplies: Estimated between $18,000-$30,000

     

    We rely on monetary gifts, in-kind donations, and community support to achieve this goal.

Impact from 2024

  • Nearly 3,000 students from 90 different Anchorage School District schools received backpacks and supplies at the 2024 HUGSS event—reaching students in 99% of schools and making a tangible impact across the district.

Volunteer With Us

  • Be part of something meaningful! Volunteers help with event set-up, backpack distribution, and clean-up.

    • Morning Setup: 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

    • Midday Support: 11:30 AM - 4:00 PM

    • Evening Crew: 3:30 PM - 7:30 PM
