Special Education Extended School Year (ESY)

The ESY team is looking forward to seeing you at this year’s Extended School Year special education summer program!
ESY is available to students who qualify during an IEP team decision in one or more of the following areas of their IEP goals:
- Regression/recoupment
- Self Sufficiency
- Emerging Skill
Transportation and lunch are provided for ESY. Work with your child’s Special Education provider to determine your service delivery model for ESY.
Duration:
For Grades K-12 and ACT, ESY will be offered 3 days a week (Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday) for 4 weeks this summer:
- June 4, 5, 6
- June 11, 12, 13
- June 18, 20
- June 25, 26, 27

- Elementary Locations: Russian Jack Elementary & Willow Crest Elementary
- Secondary Location: (includes ACT) Clark Middle School
- Whaley Program Location: Benny Benson Secondary School
- SBBS Location: Williwaw Elementary
For those students that qualify, more information will be provided by your students’ special education teacher through the IEP process. Questions should be directed to your special education teacher.

Delivery Options for ESY Services
ESY services are delivered in either an itinerant model or a site-based model.
Itinerant Services
Itinerant Services (e.g.: speech-language, occupational therapy) are provided at the ESY sites. Your student’s ESY provider will contact you by June 3 to coordinate details regarding locations and time of service. If you have not heard from them by June 3, please contact the Special Education District Office at (907) 742-6065.
Site-Based Services
New this year! All students requiring site-based ESY services will be given a 4-week term. The session time will be 8:30 am - 1:30 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Transportation information (bus routes, times, etc.) is finalized the week before the ESY session starts. You will be contacted via robocalls from the ASD Transportation Department with this information. If you have not heard from Transportation by June 3, please contact them at (907) 742-1200, option 5.
Class rosters and teacher assignments are also finalized the week before the ESY session starts. Your student’s ESY provider will contact you by June 3.
Please make sure that your contact information is current with your student’s school as communication regarding ESY will be sent through robocalls and personal phone calls.
