Business Academy
Welcome to the ASD Business Academy page! This program is for high school juniors (and seniors based on space available). We offer college-level pathways in Bookkeeping/Finance, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Executive Assistant, and Strategic Leadership.
- The program spans two years (junior and senior). Students take one or two UAF courses online per semester.
- Dual Credit Courses taught by UAF Faculty - 16 college credits per pathway.
- An ASD Academy coach (teacher) will provide in-person coaching and mentoring.
- Internship is required during senior year.
- Successful students graduate with an Occupational Endorsement (link) from the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Who should apply?
- Students who are interested in business, and want to earn college credit while staying at their own high school.
- Students who are academically capable and work well independently in online classes.
- Students who want to enter the workforce in Bookkeeping/Finance, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Executive Assistant, and Strategic Leadership, and be career or college ready upon graduation.

Who is eligible?
- Cohorts start during the student's junior year of high school. Applications are due spring of sophomore year when registering for junior classes.
- The program will take 2 years to complete. Current juniors who are interested in beginning as a senior may apply and be considered on a space available basis for partial completion of the program.
- Applications and references will be evaluated for admission into the program.

When are UAF courses taught?
- The UAF courses are asynchronous, providing maximum flexibility for student schedules.
- The ASD Business Teacher will set up regular check-ins with students to monitor progress and provide support.
- Students remain enrolled at their high school. Students work with their counselor to schedule a period during their regular school day, utilizing the school's Cyber Center for dedicated learning space.
